Personal statement
I hold a Master of Science in Medical Biotechnology and before graduation I started my internship at the CIC BioGUNE located in Bilbao, Spain. I was in charge of two projects.
This gave me the opportunity to improve my skills in handling different deadlines, to favor the upcoming projects and to coordinate the work.
During my graduation training I started working to department of biochemistry, biology and general pathology of “Luigi Vanvitelli”. In 2015 I graduated in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Naples Federico II in 2015 (First Class Honours) with an experimental thesis on the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor 3a is controlled by pro-inflammatory cytokines and epigenetic modifications.
In 2005 I started working in the laboratory of Prof.ssa Lucia Altucci as a PhD student in translational Medicine, and I was directly involved in several projects about the different mechanisms and function of cell death machinery in human tumor cells resistant to anticancer treatment. Our group of research is currently investigating the mechanism by which specific chromatin remodeling epidrugs induce cell death in tumour cells but not in normal cells.
During my academic career I worked at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm in the laboratory of Prof. Boris Zhivotovsky, and the project was focused on suppressed translation as a mechanism of initiation of caspase-8- dependent apoptosis in autophagy-deficient NSCLC cells under nutrient limitation.
I’m co-authored of international publications.
I’m extremely dynamic, active and flexible person with a solid scientific background. I work very well not only on my own but also as a team member; in addition, thanks to abroad experiences, I’m the ability to work easily with people with different backgrounds.
