Gianluigi Franci is senior researcher in the laboratory of Lucia Altucci & Massimiliano Galdiero at the Second University of Naples. His particular field of interest are Pathology and Microbiology by Epigenetic/Mass Spectrometry and Next Genome Sequencing point of view.
He graduated in Industrial Biotechnology from the University of Naples Federico II in 2003, with an experimental thesis in Proteomics. He was awarded a PhD in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology with honor from the University of Naples Federico II for his studies on the functional proteomics of estrogen receptor alpha in human breast cancer cell nuclei. In 2011 he completed a post-graduate specialization course in Clinical Pathology cum laude at the Second University of Naples, where he is currently studying to obtain a degree in Medicine. During his academic career he has worked at a number of European institutes including the Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands, and the Italian National Research Council. He is the recipient of two prestigious EMBO fellowships, one at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg and the other at the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences. He has co-authored many international publications and regularly performs peer reviews for several journals.
In 2014 he won Tech-Hub prize with Epi-C srl.
In 2013 he won a national competition to attend the Start-Up School in San Francisco sponsored by the Mind the Bridge Foundation.
Gianlugi is the CEO and one of the co-founders of Epi-C. He is mainly involved in the research, management, business development and fundraising.
